Web-based Ad-Hoc Report Writer

The Ad-Hoc Report Writer (RW) is a Web-based application that generates ad-hoc reports for financial, HR or health-care and medical data. Through its user-friendly Web interface, the RW allows users to dynamically query and export data in different formats. Users can generate output immediately, save report settings for a future private or public use or put a report under a schedule. The RW allows to work against multiple domain databases and can be a simple gateway for internal and external users to get data from complex databases with complex custom reports development. The RW can be easily integrated with existing IT architecture for a single logon and security restrictions as well as customized to present a client/project specific user interface. The RW can be also integrated with statistical packages like SAS for producing statistical output as well.

Restricted Access

The RW can be setup to allow access to sensitive data based on logon id. User groups can also be setup and assigned to logon ids if more than one user needs access to certain restricted data. Access can be restricted from the allowed fields as well as data records.

Report Types/Export

The RW is capable of producing simple reports consisting of a handful of fields but the RW is also capable of producing complex reports joining fields from several tables with complex relationships and filtered through several criteria to produce the desired reports. The domain database can consist from hundreds or thousands fields united into functional categories for easy use. Users may apply the grouping and sorting criteria to reports. The RW also contains advanced chart capabilities to display the data in truly meaningful ways.

The RW can display results directly to the user screen as a table, a form or a fine print, however users may choose to export report results to many formats such as Word, Excel, PDF, HTML, XML or simple text.

Custom Criteria

Among many other advance features, the RW allows users to generate “Custom Criteria” reports. The feature allows users to import criteria such as a listing of social security numbers to generate a report. Without this feature, RW users would need to input each SSN manually.

Custom Output Reports

The RW “Custom Output” feature gives users the ability to export data to different format with custom layout. A word document with dropdown/text and merge fields is a simple example of a custom output.

Scheduler

The RW Scheduler allows users to designate the desired time (one time or recurring) for a report to generate and send results in any output format to registered subscribers. Users may also send the results of a report to a valid email address any time.

Auditing

The RW Auditing allows RW administrator to collect users and data use statistics, analyze data activity trends and calculate usage fees.
